RENO, Nev. (Aug. 22, 2025) – The 2026 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Open Championships will run an extra week in Reno Tahoe, as strong early registration has pushed team counts beyond 10,400. The tournament, originally scheduled to conclude July 5, will now extend through July 12, 2026 at the National Bowling Stadium (NBS).

This expanded schedule positions the 122nd USBC Open Championships to reach Reno’s highest participation since 2011, when 12,837 teams competed. The event drew 9,565 teams and nearly 48,000 bowlers when it was last hosted at the NBS. With registration still open, the 2026 tournament is expected to generate an economic impact of $80 million for the region.

“It’s truly inspiring to see continued growth within a critical community of visitors, customers and competitors who’ve been enjoying the National Bowling Stadium since its inception,” said Visit Reno Tahoe President and CEO Mike Larragueta. “This is only possible through the collaborative spirit and partnership of the United States Bowling Congress, the City of Reno, Visit Reno Tahoe, our hotel partners and community stakeholders. The addition of an extra week of the USBC Open Championships is a testament to the demand and desirability of the NBS and the destination of Reno Tahoe. We are excited to continue what has become tradition for thousands of bowlers throughout the U.S. and beyond.”

The 2026 tournament marks the 15th USBC Open Championships held in Reno Tahoe, including 12 tournaments since the National Bowling Stadium opened in 1995. Since then, USBC bowlers have generated more than 2 million room nights in Reno Tahoe. The stadium has also hosted 12 USBC Women’s Championships, reinforcing its standing as one of the nation’s premier bowling venues.
