RENO, Nev. (October 27, 2025)Visit Reno Tahoe announces upcoming developments, an extensive lineup of events and the return of ski season, along with new flight routes to close out the year. The dynamic urban basecamp invites travelers to discover new and returning celebrations and new developments, including elevated outdoor adventure experiences and ongoing revitalization of the city’s downtown area. 

“As temperatures cool, Reno Tahoe heats up with a wide breadth of outdoor activities and holiday festivities,” said Mike Larragueta, President and CEO of Visit Reno Tahoe. “From exploring diverse activities and annual events across the city, new and returning travelers can experience the destination like never before. This season, the region promises world-class adventure, holiday cheer, and dynamic cultural experiences.”

With new flight routes and ongoing developments at top hotels and bustling districts, travelers can experience Reno Tahoe with a new perspective. Below are a few key highlights of new developments:

  • Reno Revival: The Reno Bank Building, inside the former Harrah’s Reno hotel casino, will be transformed into The Mint Bar this October as the first phase of the Reno Revival project in downtown Reno, orchestrated by Fine Entertainment. Open 24 hours, the bar is the first of ten restaurants that will be developed as part of the project, which also includes residential apartments and commercial spaces such as office, retail and hotel rooms.
  • Grand Sierra Resort: The resort casino property has just broken ground on the 10,000-seat arena, the first phase of the property’s $1 billion redevelopment project and the largest private capital investment in the destination’s history. The arena will be home to the University of Nevada men’s basketball team upon completion in the fall of 2027, in addition to nearly 100 annual events. The redevelopment also includes a 2,800-space parking garage, a reconceptualized Grand Bay splash golf facility, a new community ice center, a fan-centric central plaza, and future housing and hotel expansion.
  • Reno-Tahoe International Airport: Reno-Tahoe International Airport broke ground on its new Ground Transportation Center, as part of MoreRNO, its multi-year infrastructure program. Spanning four floors and covering more than 440,000 sq. ft., the Ground Transportation Center will offer convenience and efficiency for travelers by housing all rental car, taxi, and ground transportation operations.
  • Alaska Airlines: The airline has relaunched year-round non-stop service between San Diego and Reno.
  • Southwest Airlines: The airline will resume its nonstop service between Austin and Reno on November 2.
  • Frontier: Starting November 22, the airline will launch twice-weekly air service between Phoenix and Reno.
  • Nevada Museum of Art: This November, the state’s only accredited art museum will welcome a museum-wide, multi-year exhibition into environmental art and climate action. The immersive show, Into the Time Horizon, is the largest in the museum’s history, featuring nearly 200 artists from around the world.

Travelers can take advantage of the urban basecamp’s world-class ski resorts, only 30 minutes from downtown Reno. This season brings special ski anniversary promotions, new equipment and more: 

  • Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe: With an opening date of November 8, the new season begins on the heels of a $6 million off-season investment in the resort’s recreational activities. Travelers can enjoy the new 20-lane, dual conveyor lift-served Wildslide Tahoe Tubing Center, featuring a brand-new lodge, outdoor seating, and 400 additional parking spaces, plus an expanded snowmaking system.
  • Palisades Tahoe: New snowmaking system improvements, parking program enhancements, elevated après experiences, and more await travelers ahead of the resort’s November 16 season opening. A packed calendar of world-class events includes the return of Amie Engerbretson’s signature Women of Winter camp, 53 days of KT Bass Bar entertainment with live DJs and artist performances, Tahoe Live 2025 music festival, the Toyota U.S. Mogul Freestyle Championships, and the Rahlves Bonzai Race.
  • Northstar California: Opening on November 21, Northstar welcomes guests with highlights like the 2 pm Tōst—a unique ski-up toast with cider or sparkling wine overlooking mountain views. The resort’s Winter Wonderland event series will return December 19 through January 4, including live music, giveaways, and more. 
  • Heavenly: In celebration of the resort’s 70th anniversary, a stacked lineup of events has been added to the season, which kicks off on November 21, and includes the Celebrity Banked Slalom, special DJ events, and an anniversary celebration. The resort is also expanding its recycling efforts to include soft plastics and introducing Epic Friend Tickets for season-long passholders with 50% off lift tickets. 
  • Diamond Peak: In honor of the resort’s 60th anniversary season, travelers can save with special “retro” pricing dates throughout the season featuring $60 lift tickets, discounted lessons and equipment rentals. The season will open on December 4
  • Kirkwood Mountain Resort: Opening December 5, Kirkwood welcomes the season with a fresh exterior to the Timber Creek Base Lodge. Locally-loved events return, including the Winter Solstice Kickoff Party, New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade, Women’s Weekend, Proud to Be Me Week, and beyond. 

Visit Reno Tahoe’s end-of-year calendar is packed with a high-energy lineup of events, offering visitors a variety of ways to experience the region’s vibrant culture, entertainment, and beyond: 

  • Home for the Holidays with Reno Aces: Reno Aces, the destination’s minor league baseball team, is hosting Home for the Holidays at Greater Nevada Field in downtown Reno. Spanning over three weekends in December, this immersive holiday experience includes a vendor market, photos with Santa, tree lightings, and various festivities across the ballpark.
  • Christmas on the Comstock: Located southeast of Reno, Virginia City celebrates the holiday season for the entire month of December with Christmas on the Comstock. This month-long celebration features an official tree lighting, a saloon crawl, holiday performances, and two train ride experiences on the V&T Candy Cane Express and Electric Holiday Train O’ Lights.
  • Tahoe Film Festival: Celebrating its first decade, the film festival returns from December 4-7 with a collection of environmentally-focused films selected to educate young people and recognize those dedicated to preserving the lake’s natural beauty.
  • Sparks Hometowne Christmas Celebration: Celebrating its 38th year, Sparks will host the 2025 parade with a Christmas in Toyland theme on Friday, December 6. Festivities begin Friday, December 5, with the annual tree lighting ceremony, live entertainment, and complimentary hot chocolate for attendees.
  • Reno Santa Crawl: Set for December 13, this annual event brings over 20,000 Santas to downtown Reno, creating the world’s largest Santa-themed pub crawl with nearly 40 participating bars and venues.
  • Grand Sierra Resort: On December 14th, The Grand Theatre will welcome the return of the classic ballet production of The Nutcracker
