RENO, Nev. (November 19, 2025) – Visit Reno Tahoe is seeking four local artists to create new murals inside the Reno-Sparks Convention Center as part of “Coloring The Walls,” a community-driven art initiative celebrating Northern Nevada’s creativity.
Artists will be selected to paint wall sections within the convention center’s A Rooms corridor, a busy area visited by hundreds of thousands of guests each year. Wall sizes are 7 feet, 5 inches high and range from 10 feet, 5 inches to 13 feet, 4 inches wide. Each artist will receive a $2,000 stipend.
The theme for the project, “What Inspires You About Living in Northern Nevada,” invites artists to reflect on the landscapes, culture, events and community spirit that define the region. Submissions may be abstract, figurative or illustrative in style, and should capture the energy and personality of Reno Tahoe in a way that engages the many visitors who pass through the convention center.
To apply, artists must submit one to three concept sketches or digital mockups, a brief artist statement of no more than 250 words and a link to a website or social media profile showcasing their work. The application form is available here, and the deadline to apply is Dec. 3, 2025. Eligibility is open to all residents of Washoe County. Artists under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while painting.
The project timeline includes artist selection on Dec. 10, 2025; mural painting from Dec. 15, 2025, through Jan. 4, 2026; and a media unveiling on Jan. 6, 2026. For more details or images of the mural spaces, please contact Courtney Mann at CMann@visitrenotahoe.com.
