Visit Reno Tahoe offers $5 Uber vouchers to reduce congestion as one of the region’s largest annual events returns
RENO, Nev. (April 9, 2026) – As one of the largest annual sporting events returns to the region, Visit Reno Tahoe is taking proactive steps to reduce parking impact while welcoming thousands of athletes and visitors for the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) Far Western National Qualifier at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center (RSCC).
To help ease parking demand and traffic congestion around the convention center, Visit Reno Tahoe is offering tournament attendees $5 Uber vouchers to the venue. The initiative is designed to provide a convenient, affordable transportation option while minimizing strain on surrounding businesses during peak event weekends.
“This is a major event for our community, and we want to be thoughtful about how we host it,” said Mike Larragueta, President and CEO of Visit Reno Tahoe. “By encouraging rideshare use, we’re helping reduce parking pressure while making it easier for our visitors to get where they need to go.”
Spanning three weekends beginning April 10, the tournament will bring nearly 2,000 teams to Reno Tahoe, a more than 20% increase over last year. Hosted in the region for more than 30 years, the event is a longtime staple that continues to grow in both size and impact.
In previous years, the tournament generated approximately $10 million in economic impact, supporting local hotels, restaurants, and businesses throughout Washoe County.
Inside the convention center, the energy is just as significant as the economic impact. The Far Western National Qualifier is one of the premier girls’ junior volleyball tournaments in the country, offering athletes a critical pathway to the next level.
For some players, this is a final opportunity to qualify for USA Volleyball National Championships. For others, it’s a chance to compete in front of college coaches and recruiters attending the event, where strong performances can lead to scholarship opportunities and future collegiate careers.
“This tournament is about opening doors,” said Dr. Nicole Annaloro Executive Director/Commissioner of the NCVA. “Athletes come here with goals of playing at the next level, and this event gives them the exposure and platform to make that happen.”
With its long-standing partnership, loyal participant base, and continued growth, the NCVA Far Western National Qualifier remains a defining event for both the volleyball community and the Reno Tahoe region.
