August reaches $57.5 million as Reno Tahoe continues strong tourism performance following record fiscal year
RENO, Nev. (Sept. 24, 2026) – Reno Tahoe’s tourism momentum is continuing into the new fiscal year, with August 2026 setting a new all-time record for taxable room revenue in Washoe County.
August generated $57,550,274 in taxable room revenue, the highest total for any month on record and a 6.4% increase over August 2025. The month also surpassed the previous all-time record of $55,845,967, set in August 2024, by more than $1.7 million, or 3.1%. Visitor counts increased 3.5% year over year in August.
The record follows another strong month in July, when taxable room revenue reached $55,191,531, a 15% increase from $47,979,298 in July 2025. July visitor counts also increased 7.5% year over year.
“This kind of sustained performance doesn’t happen by accident,” said Mike Larragueta, President and CEO of Visit Reno Tahoe. “It reflects years of intentional work to grow visitation, strengthen our events and convention business, expand how people experience the destination, and tell the Reno Tahoe story to new audiences. Most importantly, that success translates into meaningful economic impact for our community.”
The latest results extend a period of record performance for the destination. Visit Reno Tahoe recently reported a record fiscal year, building on strong convention and group business, major sporting events, live entertainment, and continued demand for Reno Tahoe’s combination of outdoor recreation, gaming, events, and year-round experiences.
“We’re proud of these results, but our work is focused on what comes next,” Larragueta said. “We want to continue creating demand for Reno Tahoe throughout the year, reaching new audiences, and strengthening the destination in ways that create lasting value for our community.”
Visit Reno Tahoe continues to pursue a diversified tourism strategy designed to drive year-round visitation and strengthen the destination’s national profile. That work includes supporting expanded air service and greater access to the destination, attracting major sporting events and conventions, investing in signature events and experiences, and promoting Reno Tahoe to new audiences in key travel markets. Most recently, new nonstop service between Reno Tahoe and Nashville is set to begin Oct. 1, further connecting the destination to travelers across the country.
