RENO, Nev. (December 3, 2025) – Visit Reno Tahoe will kick off the 2025-2026 indoor track season at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center (RSCC) on Thursday, Dec. 4, marking the second year of competition at Nevada’s first and only World Athletics-certified indoor track. Following a successful inaugural season that generated significant visitation and economic activity, the venue is poised to further elevate Reno Tahoe’s position as a premier sports tourism destination.
Built to elite competition standards, the 200 meter-banked, Mondo-manufactured track features a full range of World Athletics-certified equipment by UCS. The RSCCs ability to host high-level NCAA, USATF, AAU and youth events has quickly positioned Reno Tahoe among a select group of cities capable of attracting year-round sports tourism, particularly during winter months.
“The Reno Tahoe Indoor Track is officially on the map, and we look forward to welcoming more world-class competition to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center,” said Reno Tahoe President and CEO Mike Larragueta. “The return of indoor track season—and especially the opportunity to host the Mountain West Conference Championships—strengthens Reno Tahoe’s role as a leader in sports tourism and brings substantial benefits to our hotels, restaurants and local businesses.”
Conveniently located minutes from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and surrounded by thousands of hotel rooms, the Indoor Track offers teams and spectators seamless access to competition, amenities and lodging, making it an ideal winter hub for large-scale track events. Last year’s inaugural season drew over 5,000 registered athletes, coaches and families from across the West, contributing to over 12,000 room nights, $133,000 in total revenue and over $6 million in economic impact.
The 2025-2026 season is scheduled to host 12 meets, opening with the University of Nevada Silver State Invitational from Dec. 4–6, with a full calendar of youth, club and collegiate events throughout the winter. The season’s marquee event, the Mountain West Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for Feb. 26–28, is expected to bring some of the region’s top Division I athletes to Reno Tahoe, generating significant media attention and visitor impact.
Additional events scheduled for the season include:
- Reno Tahoe Athletics Winterfest – Dec. 13
- USATF Pacific Association Holiday Invitational – Dec. 27–28
- University of Nevada Silver & Blue Invitational – Jan. 9–10
