The Four Season Destination Unveils Summer Events and Festivals Line Up plus New Flights and Destination Hotspots

RENO, Nev. (April 9, 2024) – Following a successful winter season, Reno Tahoe reveals an exciting lineup of events, festivals and happenings for visitors and locals to explore in the summer season. With warmer temperatures and longer days, Reno Tahoe provides a jumping-off point to explore the best of the Sierra Nevada, from lake days to annual favorites such as Reno Rodeo, Hot August Nights, a new MidTown boutique hotel and more.

“We are looking forward to the summer season as we welcome back many of the destination’s favorite events,” said Reno Tahoe President and CEO Mike Larragueta. “Reno Tahoe’s dynamic events cater to locals and visitors alike, offering outdoor adventures, exceptional entertainment, authentic cuisine and access to Northern Nevada’s best artisans and makers.”

In April, Reno Tahoe welcomes its newest accommodation: the 21-room boutique Best Bet Motor Lodge, located conveniently in the heart of MidTown. Best Bet Motor Lodge caters to everything from intimate romantic getaways and relaxing staycations to corporate business travel and digital nomads. Spa amenities are available with the debut of the Reno Sauna Club, including both indoor and outdoor saunas as well as a cold plunge.

Ahead of the busy summer season, Reno-Tahoe International Airport is rolling out new and returning nonstop flight routes that connect top U.S. destinations, including Austin, Minneapolis, NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, and more to the “Biggest Little City.”

  • May 6th: American Airlines launches flights from Reno to Austin.
  • May 23rd: Sun Country introduces a new Reno to Minneapolis flight.
  • June 4th: Southwest Airlines begins service from Reno to Chicago Midway.
  • June 5th: American Airlines launches nonstop service from Reno to Chicago O’Hare.
  • June 7th and 8th: Delta offers nonstop service from Reno to Atlanta and from Reno to Minneapolis.
  • June 13th: JetBlue begins nonstop service to New York.

  • The United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Women’s Championships will take place at the National Bowling Stadium, April 27-June 29. This marks its 10th trip to the region’s venue, welcoming 15,000 bowlers.
  • Reno River Festival kicks off from June 7-9 with three days of outdoor adventure in the heart of downtown Reno. Festival activities include concerts in the park, food, local craft beer, shopping, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides, the most unique bike ride in Northern Nevada, the largest cornhole event in the region, a scavenger hunt and the Great Reno River Rally.
  • Reno Rodeo, known as the “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West,” runs from June 20-29. The 105th annual Reno Rodeo is a 10-day event featuring a cattle drive, entertainment, food, carnival, shopping and more.
  • Artown, one of the most comprehensive arts festivals in the country, runs for the entire month of July with over 500 activities, including live music and dancing, theater performances, art walks featuring visual arts from famous artists to local creators, workshops, and so much more.
  • BBQ, Brews & Blues Festival entering its 27th year will take place June 14-15 on Virginia Street. Hosted by THE ROW, the festival offers samples of local barbeque, brews and beverages from over 50 microbreweries plus live entertainment.
  • Hot August Nights taking place from August 4-11, is considered one of the world’s premier classic car events with more than 5,000 vehicles from this golden era of design being showcased with activities all over Reno and Sparks.
  • Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival takes place throughout the summer with performances from June 28-August 3 at the Warren Edward Trepp Stage in Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park. Attendees can enjoy live performances of classic Shakespearean plays from professional actors while enjoying a gourmet meal and drinks against the backdrop of the sunset of Lake Tahoe.
  • The Great Balloon Race is the world’s largest free hot-air ballooning event. Watch over 100 balloons each year ascend into the sky in the early mornings from September 6-8. Since its beginning 42 years ago, the Great Balloon Race has become a beloved community tradition.

Additional events include Street Vibrations Spring Rally, Sierra Nevada Lavender Honey Festival as well as weekly happenings such as Food Truck Fridays and Reno Aces games.
