The Reno-Sparks Convention Center continues to elevate the region as a destination for elite competition
RENO, Nev. (Feb. 26, 2026) – Championship competition begins today as Visit Reno Tahoe welcomes the Mountain West Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, followed by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track & Field Championships to the Reno Tahoe Indoor Track at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center (RSCC), Nevada’s first and only World Athletics-certified indoor track.
“Reno Tahoe’s indoor track has quickly proven it can compete on a national stage,” said Mike Larragueta, President and CEO of Visit Reno Tahoe. “Having the opportunity to welcome these elite championships speaks to the quality of this venue and the experience our destination provides. It’s exciting to see the momentum continue as we attract premier events that benefit our community and showcase Reno Tahoe as a hub for sports tourism.”
The Mountain West championship, hosted by the University of Nevada, is a three-day event that will bring the conference’s top collegiate athletes to Reno Tahoe, highlighting elite competition on one of the fastest and most technically advanced indoor tracks in the country. The event highlights the RSCC’s growing reputation as a premier destination for major indoor track events and the region’s leadership in sports tourism.
Built to meet elite competition standards, the 200-meter banked track has quickly become a standout venue for athletes, coaches, and spectators alike, offering a competition environment rarely found in the western United States and providing a unique opportunity for record-setting performances.
The championship is expected to draw 12 universities, fans, and media from across the region, delivering meaningful economic impact for local hotels, restaurants and businesses while bringing high-level collegiate competition to the community.
Spectator admission for day one of the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships is complimentary, and tickets for days two and three are $15. Parking is free at the RSCC. More information, including a daily event schedule, can be found here.
More Championship Action Ahead
On the heels of the Mountain West competition, the momentum continues with the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Indoor Track & Field Championships, taking place March 1–2, 2026, also at the Reno Tahoe Indoor Track.
The 33rd edition of the MPSF Championships returns to Reno for the first time since 2000 and the ninth time overall, bringing another wave of top collegiate athletes from 14 universities to the region and further cementing Reno Tahoe’s role as a premier host city for indoor track. The MPSF provides enhanced competition and championship opportunities for NCAA Division-l Intercollegiate Olympic sports without conference affiliation.
Spectator admission for the MPSF Championships is $15, with free parking at the RSCC, offering fans an accessible opportunity to experience high-level collegiate competition in a unique indoor setting.
Together, the back-to-back championships highlight an action-packed stretch for track and field in Reno Tahoe and underscore the growing prominence of the RSCC as a destination for elite competition.

About The Mountain West
Since its founding in 1999, the Mountain West has remained steadfastly committed to excellence in intercollegiate athletics while advancing the academic missions of its member institutions. Central to that mission is the holistic development of our student-athletes. Championing their success not only in competition but also in the classroom and in their personal growth. Beginning with the 2026–27 season, the new Mountain West will feature a comprehensive membership model that brings together full-time, all-sport institutions alongside select sport-specific members. The Conference’s all-sport members—United States Air Force Academy; University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa; University of Nevada, Reno; University of Nevada, Las Vegas; University of New Mexico; San José State University; University of Texas at El Paso, and University of Wyoming, will continue to compete across the full Mountain West portfolio, including football. University of California, Davis and Grand Canyon University will join as all-sport members outside of football, while Colorado College (women’s soccer), Northern Illinois University (football and women’s gymnastics), and Utah Tech University (baseball and men’s swimming and diving) will compete as affiliate members in designated sports.
